You know how some kids are easy sleepers at night?
Kaish never was.
Well, I take that back.
He is a great sleeper as long as I lay down beside him.
I know I should have minded when he was a baby.
And a toddler.
And a preschooler.
And right on up to now.
Guess what?
I never did.
I mean, sure it is hard to stop whatever I am doing at night and just relax.
I love it though.
I love when he tells me about his day at school and the people he encounters.
I know about every teacher.
The nice ones that really care.
The ones that pretend to be nice when parents are around but are mean to the kids when no one is watching.
I know about the funny ones, the yell-y ones and the happy ones.
I even know about the bus driver who makes him
sit in the front of the bus for 'no reason at all.'
I know that Kaish thinks taking a shower daily is absolutely not necessary.
He thinks homework is a pain and a huge hindrance to his fun at night.
He thinks girls are perplexing.
I am so glad I can lay beside him at night and hear all about these things.
Kaishon is fascinating.
Being his mom is the greatest joy in all the land.
I wouldn't trade it for a zillion dollars.

Aww. Very lovely. I love every moment with my children, too. NO matter how hard the day, or what the challenges are, we are blessed.

John was never a good sleeper either. Had he been, I'm sure I'd look 10 years younger.

And THAT is why God gave Kaishon to YOU! Love your negative space. I am so trying to get the hang of that. It doesn't come naturally to me. I'm a "try to squeeze in everything you can" kind of a girl. I am doing better at creating space in my life these days--maybe it will carry over. ;-)

Sweet! Before we know it they will be gone but he'll always remember that you took the time to listen to lay down with him and listen to him.

I never minded either. I love having Itty Bit fall asleep next to me.
I think one of the things I really miss is the ability to talk in the dark. To let him share without having to know I'm looking him in the face and reacting to whatever he is saying. Someday I think he will mind.
