You know how some kids are easy sleepers at night?
Kaish never was.
Well, I take that back.
He is a great sleeper as long as I lay down beside him.
I know I should have minded when he was a baby.
And a toddler.
And a preschooler.
And right on up to now.
Guess what?
I never did.
I love when he tells me about his day at school and the people he encounters.
I know about every teacher.
The nice ones that really care.
The ones that pretend to be nice when parents are around but are mean to the kids when no one is watching.
I know about the funny ones, the yell-y ones and the happy ones.
I even know about the bus driver who makes him
sit in the front of the bus for 'no reason at all.'
I know that Kaish thinks taking a shower daily is absolutely not necessary.
He thinks homework is a pain and a huge hindrance to his fun at night.
He thinks girls are perplexing.
I am so glad I can lay beside him at night and hear all about these things.
Kaishon is fascinating.
Being his mom is the greatest joy in all the land.
I wouldn't trade it for a zillion dollars.

Aww. Very lovely. I love every moment with my children, too. NO matter how hard the day, or what the challenges are, we are blessed.
"no reason at all", huh? Love it!
John was never a good sleeper either. Had he been, I'm sure I'd look 10 years younger.
I'm glad Kaish has you.
And let him know that I don't understand girls either. I still believe that they have cooties!

Aww... Becky... your love as a mama is so beautiful and wonderful. What a blessing to have such a mama. What a blessing to have such a son. That is a great quote too! :)
You have a wonderful relationship with your son. Your words just glow with the love you have for him.
And THAT is why God gave Kaishon to YOU! Love your negative space. I am so trying to get the hang of that. It doesn't come naturally to me. I'm a "try to squeeze in everything you can" kind of a girl. I am doing better at creating space in my life these days--maybe it will carry over. ;-)
See? Something beautiful every time I come here.
Your son is deeply and well loved.. you're an awesome mom.
I'm so grateful too that my girls (at least for now) tell me all about their day and people they meet.

Too, too sweet! I used to do the same thing with my girls each night. Trust me...you'll look back on those moments one day and SMILE!
I just love your heart! You will never ever regret taking the time to hear your boys thoughts, dreams and day-to-day life. But you already knew that, didn't you? ;) What a gift you have given him, and he in turn has given you.
I'm so glad I stopped by today. Thank you for sharing! xo
Sweet post. It is so nice he shares so much with you.
I know you mean it too, about not trading it for a zillion dollars. What a perfectly loving way to stay in touch with your child, to have time to really listen and learn about his life when he is away from you.
You're such a good mom, Becky. Boys are NOT known for their verbosity. That you've created a space where Kaish can speak and be heard and be loved ... well, it's pretty fantastic.
I say it's a win win....you have an amazing relationship!
Love this post. THESE quiet moments are the moments in motherhood I look forward to (and treasure the most). :)
Sweet! Before we know it they will be gone but he'll always remember that you took the time to listen to lay down with him and listen to him.
Our boys are the same way, so Neil and I tag-team it every night. I wouldn't have it any other way!
I love that quote! So powerful and so true! The photo of the oragami swan is it? is beautiful
So sweet! You are blessed.
This is why you're the best mom ever! Love the relationship you have with Kaish :) I hope to someday to share the same type of relationship with my own kids!
What a beautiful post! How I missed visiting your blog!
I LOVE that quote! And this post is so sweet. I lay down with my kids every night too. It's not easy with 4 of them, but so worth it ;)
oh you are such a good mom! I love this :-)
oh you are such a good mom! I love this :-)
I love that quote! It's so true. And I just love that you have that kind of relationship with Kaishon. That's awesome. It really is.
I love this post. I hope that as he gets older my son and I will have a relationship very similar to that.
And forever you will both have these moments to treasure. How special and wonderful!
What wonderful times that you will treasure for the rest of your life. Those are moments that are just so special & such a great time to bond. Love that!
You sound like a wonderful parent! Lovely set of photos.
Exactly. You took the words right out of my heart and put them to (inter web) paper.
A perfect post! I relate to it completely ... motherhood is the greatest, most miraculous gift!!
Kaishon sounds so fun! I would enjoy listening to him tell about his day too! Gorgeous pictures!!
There are times I wonder what my students say about me when they go home over dinner...
K is SO SO SO lucky to have you as his momma, Becky! O has the same mindset about showers. Loved your words!
I have that quote on my phone... so true.
I never minded either. I love having Itty Bit fall asleep next to me.
I think one of the things I really miss is the ability to talk in the dark. To let him share without having to know I'm looking him in the face and reacting to whatever he is saying. Someday I think he will mind.
