Kissy Faces

Oh, do I have a great K today!

K is for Kiss!

And I have a super question!

When I was little,

I noticed that one of my friends had a mom

who kissed her kid on the lips.

I asked my Mommy to kiss me on the lips,

and I think she wanted to wash my mouth out with soap instead!

She told me that we would not ever do that!

Needless to say, we never became lip kissers!

I don’t kiss Kaish on the lips.

when he came home from school

one day last week.

He ignored the doorbell when Shoshi came over.

  He ignored the doorbell when Patrick and Kevin came over.

He was SO engrossed in his book.

Gary worked yesterday from 7 am until 1:00 am.

18 hours.

And he had to be back this morning at 7.

I don’t know how he does it.

He works 7 days a week every.single.week.

Lake Nockamixon

Naji and Kaish LOVED going to

Lake Nockamixon this summer.

We would play on the docks.

Wade in the water.

You know, just basically enjoy Summer days!

  And now that Summer has officially ended

and Fall is upon us.

It is fun to look back and remember the fun!

I tried my hardest!

You know how hard it is for me

to NOT  put a face in a picture, right?

Nearly impossible!

Childhood Crisis

One day this summer I was at work.

Don’t be so shocked, I actually DO work

(when forced)

So anyway, I was at work in center city Philadelphia.

I was in a training learning how to be a case manager.

( I won’t even put a snarky little sentence

in here about how I have been a case manager

for 9 years, but you can just IMAGINE

how fantastic that training was, right….?)

Anyway, I am in this training,

and my phone starts ringing.

Once. Twice. FOURTEEN times.

It was a call from our neighborhood friend with a cell phone.

There was no way to answer.

Now, if Kaish and Naji had been home that day,

I would have answered it right away,

but I knew they were at my Mom’s.

When we finally got a break,

I called Jonathon to find out why he had called 14 times.

Jonathon said he had to talk to Kaish right away.

It was an emergency.

I told him we probably wouldn’t be home until 7:00 that night.

I could tell he was not thrilled about this information!

He said, “As soon as he gets in the car have him call me.”

Well, you know I was curious about this EMERGENCY!

So, after the training I raced home from the city!

Sped into my parents driveway,

Handed Kaish the phone and told him to call Jonathon

IMMEDIATELY!

He called.

You know how boys talk on the phone, right?
All I heard was, “Yes. OK. We will be right home.”

The minute he hangs up I am all over him for details

of the EMERGENCY!

It turns out,

a new neighbor has moved in.

And he is 9.

And he is going into 4th grade just like Kaish and Jonathon.

I can totally see how that merited 14 calls!

Oh, the joys of childhood!

Who did you play with when you were little?

There were no little girls in our neighborhood.

I played with my sister, Betsy.

Super Power? Super Duper Power!

It is Thursday and Mama Kat asked:

If you were a super hero,

what would your super power be and why?

This is going to sound funny coming from me…

‘cause I really am not a self promoter,

but you know what?

I already am a super hero.

And I think you are a too.

The minute there was Kaish,

my super hero power came.

The power of love.

This love we feel for our children,

well,

it is sort of scary.

It is SO big.

It is SO unexpected.

It is SO fantastic!

So today, I am going to

revel in my super power.

I am going to kiss him goodbye when the bus is coming

(even when he is pushing me away)

I am going to tell him

that God gave me the *VERY* BEST

little boy on the whole planet

(even when he rolls his eyes)

and I am going to give him money

for an ice cream treat at lunch

because, some people might not think

Mommy Love is a super power,

but in my heart of hearts,

I know it is the GREATEST super power of them all!

Now I know, I know, I know that

I have been posting MILLIONS

of vacation picture this week

And you are getting sick of it, right?

My sincere apologies!

How can I not play along with the theme though,

since it is for Moxie media?

I must.

I simply must!

So, let me tell you,

I used to go on fabulous vacations!

When I was a Senior in High School.

my class went to Puerto Rico.

Now granted, we were on a missions trip,

but Puerto Rico is still Puerto Rico!

Totally glam!

And then, when I was a Senior in college

we went to Israel.

Can you even imagine?

It was a trip of a lifetime and I am SO thankful I could go.

It was very special to walk in the same places

Jesus Walked.

So, now, you must be wondering how I top all of that, right?

Well, let me tell you how.

I go to Wildwoods, New Jersey.

It is not so glam.

It is not so tropical.

I don’t think Jesus walked down a single street there.

But do you know what is in Wildwood that I love so much?

My family.

That is what is in Wildwood.

On the dirty beaches.

In the grungy shag carpeting.

In the mayhem and chaos that is Wildwoods,

there is also my family!

And my family, well,

they make every vacation better than

I could ever imagine.

We definitely fight sometimes…

We totally annoy each other…

and drive each other batty

but, at the end of the day,

they fill my life with love

and I would travel anywhere with them.

Anywhere on the whole planet!
